The 2003 AAA All-Star Game Extravaganza was a two-day affair held at AutoZone Park in Memphis Tennessee.

A family orientated "FanFest", held the day before the actual game, kicked off the all-star festivities.

The FanFest was in full swing by mid-afternoon on Tuesday, July 15, with an estimated 4,500 fans in attendance. The atmosphere was that of a carnival, with rides and boardwalk-style games to play at every corner.

The grand assortment of baseball memorabilia crowding the walkways included the scorecard from the longest game ever [a minor league game, by the way], a variety of items from the 1955 World Series, and a display of the All-American Woman's Professional Baseball League, made famous by the movie "A League Of Their Own."

Although there were plenty of things to participate in, and the schedule of activities included an autograph session by members of both squads, the most-anticipated event of the day was bay far, the All-Star Home Run Derby.

The 2003 AAA All-Star Game was dream for those who came to see hitting and nightmare for anyone longing for a masterful pitching performance.

It was a truly back and forth affair with several lead changes and an outcome that remained in doubt until the final innings.

Before all was said and done, six players would go yard, and both teams would combine for a record 22 runs on 26 hits.
