Dodgers Assign First Two Players To 51s Roster
Sin City - 03/23/01 - The Los Angeles Dodgers are fine tuning their
roster for the 2001 Championship quest. Movement between the Big League
Camp and the Minor League Camp has been minimal. However, on Thursday,
March 22, 2001 the Dodgers added two high profile prospects to the 51s
line-up.
The very first player assigned to the Las Vegas 51s is Right-Handed Pitcher - Luke Prokopec.
Luke is a 23 year-old native of South Australia. He was signed by the Dodgers as
a free agent on August 28, 1994. He made his Major League debut last season
with the Dodgers in September.
The second player assigned to the 51s is Hawaiian born Onan Masaoka.
Masaoka is 23 years old and has spent just over one season in the Major Leagues. Last season he split time with the Dodgers and the Albuquerque Dukes (Last season's Triple-A affiliate of the Dodgers.). In 1999, Masaoka spent the entire season with the Dodgers where he appeared in 54 games, pitched in 66 innings, and struck-out 61.
