Ricardo Rodrigiuez is a player who will soon be a household name to baseball
fans.
Rodriguez
had a decent 3.21 ERA with a 14-6 record for Single-A-Vero Beach in 2001.
He went all nine innings in two of those games. Last season the native of
the Dominican Republic gave up just 55-earned runs in 154.1 innings pitched.
The
22-year-old led the Florida State League while in Vero Beach in strikeouts,
with 154, and was named the leagues Most Valuable Pitcher. Chan Ho
Park who went 14-11 in 2001 for the L.A. Dodgers was the only other pitcher
in the organization with at least 14 wins.
In the last two seasons the right-hander has a total of 41 starts with an overall record of 24-9, and a 2.70 ERA. He accumulated a total of 283 strikeouts in those appearances, and walked 83 in 250.0 total innings pitched.
Other
accolades for this Fab-50 MLN player include the Pitcher of
the Week award in the Florida State League last August. He also took that
honor five times in 2000 while he was in the Rookie Pioneer League pitching
for the Great Fall Dodgers

has a 93mph fastball, and a good slider," says Vero Beach skipper Juan
Bustabad. "When he is on
the hill his teammates have total confidence in him to bring them a win".
