Second Base
Aaron Miles continuing his steady rise through the minors, enters his second year with the Birmingham Barons. A rule 5 draftee in baseball's 2000 draft, Miles moved from the Astros organization to the White Sox farm system.
Miles topped the Southern League in 2002 with a smoking .322 average based more on consistent hitting and smart play to get on board rather than power.
Miles lead the league in doubles (39). He was 7th overall in the Southern League in RBIs (68), 6th in slugging percentage (.450), 8th overall in stolen bases (25), and 13th in run production (67).
Miles is one of the journeyman players who makes up the backbone of the Barons with solid day-to-day play. If he has a good Spring, expect to see miles with the AAA Charlotte Knights.
