Tim Stauffer has quickly quieted any concerns over a supposed bum shoulder by starting the 2004 with great stuff on the mound.
The San Diego Padres made him the 4th overall pick in the ’03 draft, but a physical examination after the draft revealed a potential shoulder problem.
Showing great integrity, Stauffer admitted the problem to the Padres, even though it did cost him a hefty bonus.
Stauffer rehabbed without surgery and started this season in the California League, where he struck out 30 in 35 innings, posting a 2-0 record and 1.78 ERA for Lake Elsinore.
Promoted to Double-A Mobile on May 12, Tim has continued to progress well against the Southern League hitters. He is now 3-1 with a 1.71 ERA with 27K’s in 42 innings for the BayBears.
