Acquired: Selected by Indians in 2003 draft (1st round)
Current Team: Kinston Indians - Carolina League - A
This year, Michael Aubrey is living up to his expectations as a first round pick of the Cleveland Indians in 2003.
A first-team college All-American out of Tulane, Aubrey has ranked near the top of the Carolina League’s leader board in most offensive categories this season.
He is hitting .338 with 10 HR 55 RBI and a .439 on base percentage with the Kinston Indians of the class-A Carolina League.
Aubrey has great plate discipline, a very polished hitter and is great in the field, possessing a wonderful glove at first base.
A promotion to Double-A Akron is on the horizon for him. He may stay there for the remainder of the season, or even get a brief look at the fall big league workout if the Tribe isn't contending.
Cleveland prospects have had an uncanny knack of struggling at Triple-A Buffalo recently. Look for Aubrey to break that dubious propensity and produce with the Bisons’ when he gets the call.
That is, unless he skips Triple-A altogether on his way to Cleveland. He lives up to our expectations, making him our 21st pick of the FAB50.
