Ryan Howard is coming off an incredible 2003 season in the Florida State League. He hit .304 with 23 HR and 82 RBI for Clearwater, earning league MVP.

This year, Ryan is performing well in the Double-A Eastern League, batting .290 with 22 home runs.

Unfortunately for Howard, the Phillies have no current demand for another big-hitting, lefty first baseman. Jim Thome is hitting bombs out of the yard in Philadelphia.

So what are Howard's prospects?

If his production keeps up, he becomes more valuable than one of the line of back-ups to Thome. Look to see him as a "to be named later" in one of the marquee deals that the Phillies will make. Wherever Howard lands, he has the potential to be a mainstay of any major league club.
