While the Clifton, Texas native still lacks a Nolan Ryan fastball; Duke is putting up great numbers so far in 2004.
Duke has been dominating the competition in the primarily big-hitter Carolina League. The lefty has put up an impressive 9 –2 record, with the lowest ERA in the league at 1.26.
Although Zach still needs plenty of polishing before he cracks the Pirates’ rotation, his numbers indicate that he is ready to move up to Double-A soon.
The second half of our FAB50 are often players on the rise that we expect to be movers and shakers one or two divisions higher next season.
Zach is one hurler that we expect to see in the AAA by the end of 2005 , with a shot at the bigs sometime in 2006 or 2007.
