Name: Justin Morneau Height: 6’4” Weight: 220 lbs. Position: First Base Bats/Throws: L/R DOB: 05/15/1981 Organization: Minnesota Twins Acquired: Selected by Twins in 1999 draft [3rd round] Current Team: Rochester Red Wings – International League - AAA Along with Rochester teammate Jason Kubel, Justin Morneau would have ranked near the top of the Fab 50 if he hadn’t been disqualified via his seven-game stint with the Twins earlier this season. Morneau is tearing up the International League in 2004, batting .323 with 19 HR, 57 RBI and 20 two-baggers in 63 games played for the Red Wings. “He can really hit,” Rochester skipper Phil Roof says of Morneau. “He’s a great player and has a brilliant future ahead of him.” Justin, who also played in 40 games with the Twins in 2003, would still probably be in Minnesota, if not for Doug Mientkiewicz blocking his path at first-base.The Minnesota front office believes that Morneau is almost ready for primetime and they will not be able to keep him out of the Twins’ lineup for much longer if he continues to produce on the field. |

Name: Adrian Gonzales Height: 6’2” Weight: 190 lbs. Position: First Base Bats/Throws: L/L DOB: 05/08/1982 Organization: Texas Rangers Acquired: Traded by Florida Marlins in 2003 Current Team: Oklahoma RedHawks – Pacific Coast League – AAA One could actually make the case that Adrian Gonzales played a huge part in Florida’s World Series victory last season, albeit not on the field. Gonzales was the primary name in a three-player trade to the Texas Rangers for closer Ugueth Urbina, who was instrumental during the Marlins championship run in 2003. The Rangers placed Gonzales in Triple-A to start the year and he is finally living up to the hype that made him the first-overall pick in the 2000 draft. Gonzales is hitting .321 with 9 home runs this season for the Oklahoma RedHawks of the Pacific Coast League. Adrian is showing no signs of a previous lingering wrist injury and has been particularly hot in June, batting a whopping .462 in his last 20 games. |

Name: Brian Anderson Height: 6’2” Weight: 205 lbs. Position: Outfield [OF] Bats/Throws: R/R DOB: 03/11/1982 Organization: Chicago White Sox Acquired: Selected by White Sox in 2003 draft [1st round] Current Team: Birmingham Barons – Southern League - AA Drafted in the first round in 2003 out of the University of Arizona, Brian Anderson is currently in his second year of professional baseball with the Chicago White Sox organization. The highly touted outfielder started the season in Single-A Winston-Salem where he batted .319 in 69 games with the Warthogs. At the time of his call up to Double-A Birmingham, Anderson was leading the team in hitting, doubles (22), triples (4) and hits (81) and was ranked among the top three in runs (43), RBI (46) and stolen bases (10). With the recent departure of prospect Jeremy Reed to Seattle in the Freddy Garcia trade, Anderson should get plenty of opportunities to shine during 2005 Spring Training. |
