A few years into a new ballpark's life, the newness begins to wear off and the fans' enthusiasm for the facility begins to wane. Just ask the Pirates and Tigers about this phenomenon.
Not so for the Oklahoma RedHawks, where the glow of SBC Bricktown Ballpark is every bit as bright as when it opened in 1998.
This season, fans will enjoy a new $70,000 video system on the main concourse. It will show scores and standings from around the Pacific Coast League, as well as live telecasts of the Texas Rangers, the team's parent club.
“We're also scheduled to have something for the fans in between every inning this year,” said the RedHawks' Justin Tinder. “T-shirt tosses, race the mascot, dance contests and a lot more.”
The downtown area around the park has great restaurants with canal-side dining, a few hip hotels, and shopping. It's a must-see stop for anyone traveling the minors.
