KeySpan Park
Brooklyn, NY

Due to their surroundings, some ballparks have an incredible advantage.

Take KeySpan Park, home of the NY Penn League’s Brooklyn Cyclones.

The ballpark sits next to the beach at Coney Island, giving fans a wonderful view of the sand and surf beyond right field.  But the mesmerizing attraction is what’s beyond left field, as the swirling neon lights of a bustling amusement park add a lively atmosphere to the games taking place within the confines of the stadium.

The park includes the world-famous roller-coaster that inspired the baseball team’s nickname, The Cyclone.

“The best parts about going to a game in Brooklyn,” said fan Mike Wilson of Ozone Park, New York, “are the things you can do before and after the games:  the beach, the Aquarium, Nathan’s and the amusement park.”

This will be a bigger year than usual for the perennial NY-Penn leader in attendance.

“We’re the hosting the league’s first-ever All Star Game on August 23,” said Dave Campanaro, the Cyclone’s Manager of Media Relations.  “It’s really a two-day event, with a dinner the night before, a festival called ‘Brooklyn’s Best,’ a home-run derby and we’ll probably be unveiling a new statue [of Jackie Robinson and Peewee Reese] in front of the stadium.  The All Star events should give us great exposure, not to mention a good gate for the game itself.”
