Minnesota Twins Spring Training 2006 Report
 |
Can Matt Moses part the AL and NL, bringing World Series rings back to Minnesota? Well, not yet, but perhaps by 2010.
The Twins' first-round pick in 2003 is a pure hitter with great baseball instincts. He earned Florida State League All-Star honors in 2005 after hitting .306. He hit just .210 after being promoted to Double-A New Britain, where he figures to hone his skills this year. |
"He's going to be another left-handed bat that we think will hit for power in the future,'' Rantz says.
"He's got a ways to go defensively at third base, but he's only 21. He's just a baby. Our expectations are high for him.''
Moses has just 16 home runs in 632 at-bats and must increase his power numbers to stay in the Twins' plans.
Cuddyer failed to land the third-base job last year, and Terry Tiffee's bid to make the team this spring resulted in another option to Triple-A.
The Twins signed veteran Tony Batista to give the team some consistency at the hot corner, but Moses is in the blue print for 2008 or before.
