Minnesota Twins Spring Training 2006 Report
 |
Anthony Swarzak, featured in this month's article "On the Radar" is a 20-year-old right-hander who has been in the shadows of Liriano and Perkins, but keep an eye out for him. He has hit 95 mph on the radar gun and mixes in a nasty curve and changeup. He won 12 games between low-A Beloit and High-A Fort Myers last year and will start the season at Fort Myers.

"He's another prospect we think has great stuff,'' Rantz says. "We think very highly of him.''
Swarzak was the fifth of six pitchers the Twins selected in the first three rounds of the 2004 draft, but he has emerged as one of their top prospects.
He throws strikes, appears fearless on the mound, and has the patience to navigate his way through a crowded depth chart.
