Round Five Fifth Round

Most of the team representatives are anonymous, but announcing the Dodgers' pick of high school LHP Kyle Smite was the unmistakable voice of Tom Lasorda. The Cubs made a popular pick, Notre Dame RHP and wide receiver Jeff Samardzija. The Nationals chose their first college player - Baylor LHP Cory VanAllen, drafted in the third round in 2005. Six of this round's first nine picks were high schoolers, but there were just two more taken after that.
