NBDL Will Not Piggyback NBA Draft
The NBA 's Minor League Picks Its Own in August; Team Names Slated for Late July.
New York - 06/26/01 - The NBDL will not piggyback off of the NBA draft. Instead, it will open its own camp and have a separate draft, most likely in late August, according to sources at the NBDL.
The draft will feature players from the NBA draft, and add others who would not have made the cut.
The NBDL will also open up local camps which allow non-ranked players, and those playing in other leagues here and abroad to try out for the league.
What's In A Name?
Marketing. The NBDL continues to make coaching announcements during June, and looks towards late July for the announcement of the team names in the founding franchise cities.
