The majority of our photographers are freelance. We work with photographers in two ways:
What We'd Like To See...
We do not cover every game in minor league sports. We function more as a news magazine. We're looking for the Big Shot, the photo that's a great story.
We also assign events and photos for interviews to photographers based on stories which are being written for us. There we need creativity, energy, and time focus, working with our editoral staff to create an article and a look that are in keeping with this publication.
Assigned to freelance photographers who provide us a suitable e-resume and e-samples. Assignments are scheduled by our editors. We roll information out continuously, so deadline dates for each shoot/assignment will be set by the editor, and will vary. Anyone who defaults on an assignment will not be eligible for other assignment for a year, or at the discretion of the editoral staff.
Please query about your photos before you send any. We will reject any photographs sent without first querying us.
All photographs must be delivered electronically.
Submissions:
After your query has been accepted, "proofs" must be submitted at 360 x 504 @ 72 dpi (5" x 7") and emailed to us using the Photo Delivery Template. Please provide:

Photos ordered on assignment can be uploaded to our secure FTP (File Transfer Protocol) site at ftp://www.minorleaguenews.com. This is an authenticated access area, so you will require a password and account name before being able to use the FTP area.
We will send you an FTP account name and password if we give you an assignment, or accept your photo submission. If you have lost your password or account name, please email us. We will send a replacement to the email address on your contract. If this is not correct, please contact us to make sure that all your contact information is up to date.
We usually approve photos for publication within 12 to 72 hours. If we accept your photograph for publication, you agree to give us a fifteen (15) day first right of refusal prior to actual publication, or payment for the photo. We may, at our editor's discretion, pay a kill fee of 10% for any assigned photograph that we do not use.
