Growing up in the Cleveland area, he graduated from Strongsville High School in 1997 and went on to study at Ashland University. Following his graduation from Ashland, he began his professional career as a reporter and sports editor for Columbus Wired Online Magazine, where he covered The Ohio State University athletics, the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Columbus Crew.

Hoping to work within a professional organization rather than cover them from the outside, he moved on to take a position as graduate assistant at Frostburg State University (Md.), where he earned his Masters Degree in Education (concentration in Business and Athletics). Following his graduate from Frostburg State he became the Assistant Director of Sports Information and External Relations with The University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 2004. Named after our annual Ralphie Awards in the memory Ralphie Onadakis, a poor fictional matchboy, trademarked at birth, whose one bright hope in life was to ascend to the prestigious and high paying world of minor league sports media relations. Promoted to general manager for his hard work, his life's dream was crushed forever. He took to drinking and promoting cheap motorcyle jumps and tractor pulls, then one day, faded from sight.
