BIO

Joey Josephs parlayed 20 years of experience in various forms of the media, including sports reporting, writing and broadcasting, into a career in media relations when, in June 2002, he became the first Director of Media Relations for the North American Football League, serving until November 2004.

Josephs used what few resources were available to him to promote the 100-plus teams in the league. For his outstanding work, he was honored as Media Relations Director To Watch by MLN SportsZone in 2003 as well as being named Class AAA Media Relations Director of the Year by Minor League Football News, an industry online publication.

Joey later held a similar position with the American Indoor Football League (AIFL), now known as the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) and currently serves as the Director of Media Relations for the National Soccer League, a fledgling professional indoor soccer league set to begin play in June 2008, and the Minor League Football Association, an outdoor football league in operation since 2003.

Josephs was named a member of the Class of 1999 of Who’s Who In American Business for contributions made in his media career, spent mostly in Memphis, TN. He lived in Orlando, FL while working with the AIFL and the NSL before relocating to Battle Creek, MI in 2006.

Now a member of the Battle Creek Chamber of Commerce, Joey also operates Continental Communications, a public relations firm specializing in the promotion of amateur and professional sports ventures.

Named after our annual Ralphie Awards in the memory Ralphie Onadakis, a poor fictional matchboy, trademarked at birth, whose one bright hope in life was to ascend to the prestigious and high paying world of minor league sports media relations. Promoted to general manager for his hard work, his life's dream was crushed forever. He took to drinking and promoting cheap motorcyle jumps and tractor pulls, then one day, faded from sight.
