Tamburro Swings Into Chairmain of the Board for the NABPL
Pawsox Prez Presides Over NA's Board of Trustees Until 2006

 

ST. PETERSBURG, FL- 03.16.04 - Mike Tamburro, President of the Pawtucket Red Sox, was elected as the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues (The NA - Affiliated minor league baseball) during the group's annual spring meeting in Tampa.

Tamburro has developed a reputation as a mover and shaker in the International League. He has served on the Board since its inception in 1992 as the representative of the IL. He later served as the Triple-A At-Large representative (2001-2003)

The Board works with NA President Mike Moore to shape policy that guides all minor leagues affiliated with Major League Baseball.

Joe Finley owner of the Trenton Thunder was named as the new Vice-Chairman. Finley has represented the Double-A Eastern League since 1997.

Ken Carson was re-elected Secretary. Carson has been the only representative for the Class A Florida State League. He is Director of Florida Operations for the Toronto Blue Jays and General Manager of the Dunedin Blue Jays.

All men will serve into 2006, a two-year term. The Board of Trustees was established in 1992 as a means of keeping the NA responsive to the needs of its consituent leagues.
