Connell Maynor joins the Cobras
A
graduate of E.E. Smith, Maynor is the off-season quarterback coach at Fayetteville
State.
Six
foot, !80 pounds, Maynor has played at North Carolina A&T, and is an
eight year veteran of the AFL with four ArenaBowl championship rings to
show for it.
Maynor
led the Orlando Predators to a 41-38 win over the Nashville Kats in 2000,
landing him the ArenaBowl MVP.
He
passed for 3,167 yards and 54 touchdowns in the 2000 season.
Maynor
passed for 2,644 yards and 40 touchdowns with 12 interceptions during last
season where he played for the New Jersey Gladiators.
Maynor
and Arizona's Hunkie Cooper are the only two players in the history of the
Arena Football League to pass for a touchdown, receive a touchdown, run
for a touchdown, return a kick for a score, record a quarterback sack, and
intercept a pass in his career.
"He
brings something to the table that you can't coach," Cobras head coach
Mike Neu said.
"He's
a great leader with championship experience. He has all the intangibles
that you look for in a quarterback both on and off the field," Mike
finished.
Carolina
will open the preseason on March 29, 2002 against the San Jose SaberCats.
