Indy Ices Deal With Whoopee For Grant
Multi-Player Deal Brings CHL Scoring Power to Ice

Indianapolis - 02/21/01 - The Indianapolis Ice has acquired one of the CHL's all-time leading scorers, Centerman Derek Grant as part of a multi-player deal with the Macon Whoopee.

The Ice dealt forwards Chris Richards and Sebastian Pajerski as well as defenseman Aigars Mironovics for Grant. This is Grant's third stop on the CHL shuffle this year, having played for Memphis and Macon. He was traded to the Whoopee in a seven-player swap.

Grant was a fixture of the Memphis River Kings, and was their all-time leading scorer with (196-272-468) in 317 appearances. He won the CHL scoring title in 1998-1999 after amassing an incredible 123 point season. He was a two time representative of the River Kings at the CHL All Stars.

Grant, 26, is the sixth all-time leading scorer in CHL league history with 200-277-477 in six years of CHL action.

Richards ankles Indy as the fourth-leading scorer on the team (14-44-58) in 54 trips to the ice. Pajerski suited up for 18 appearances with the Ice racking up (3-4-7).

Indy continues to build a solid franchise fronted by power players like Grant.
