If Brad Boyes had a theme song, it might be the old blues hit “Can’t Find A Home.” Now on his third American Hockey League team in three years, center Brad Boyes seems to have found his place in the pro hockey world with the Providence Bruins this season.

Originally selected by Toronto in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft (1st round, 24th overall), Brad was shipped to San Jose in a deal for Owen Nolan on March 5, 2003.

In another deadline deal, almost a year to the day later, Boyes was traded with Andy Delmore to Boston in exchange for Jeff Jillson on March 9, 2004.

Despite all this movement, Brad has only been in one NHL game and has spent the rest of his 186 game career in the AHL, scoring 162 points with Providence, Cleveland and St. John's.

Brad started 2004-05 on a hot streak, tallying ten points, (four goals, six assists) in the first four games of the season.

He has remained one of the top scorers in Providence through the first half of the season, scoring 39 points (14 goals, 25 assists) in 39 games.

“He’s a great playmaker,” said a team insider. “His hands, vision and head for the game are remarkable.”

Boyes has continued to work hard on improving his defense. If his year rolls out the way that it started, he should get the attention of the Bruin bosses when NHL play resumes.
