In 2002-03, Emery participated in the AHL All-Star Classic, was named to the all-rookie team, and played in parts of three NHL games with the Senators.
Although his record dipped last year on a struggling Binghamton squad, Ray’s game was still strong enough for him to be named an All-Star.
This season, the B-Sens have improved greatly in the standings, but Emery has had a tough time keeping his record above .500.
There is little doubt that Ray has the skill and pure athletic prowess to be a number-one goalie at the next level. He will have to have to prove to be more consistent and have a much better second half, if he intends to skate in the NHL anytime soon.
His stock as an AHL goalie has remained about the same or a little worse, with a number of others entering or moving up the ranks around him. For all of these reasons, Emery drops 10 slots from last year’s Fab50 to occupy the our number twenty-one ranking.
