After signing with New Jersey in 2003, this Russian import began his career in the Devils’ organization last season with their American Hockey League affiliate in Albany.
He scored a goal in his very first AHL contest, and averaged almost a point per game for the River Rats until New Jersey promoted him in early January.
Unfortunately, Aleksander suffered a wrist injury in his NHL debut, which required surgery and sidelined him for the next few months.
He returned to action with Albany in late March, but missed his chance to make an impression on the big league ice.
This year, Suglobov has again been solid, ranking third on the River Rats’ squad with 28 points on 14 goals and 14 assists, through 43 games.
An extremely talented winger, Aleksander is using his time in Albany to work on his defense and consistency. As long as progress continues to be made, expect Suglobov to have another chance to crack the Devils' lineup in 2005-06.
He debuts in MLN's hall of the great at No. 28.
