Evidently, the Oilers’ front office has been content with bringing along Drouin-Deslauriers slowly during his first year.
He started only 12 AHL games, posting a 4-7-1 record with a 2.86 goals against average and a .889 save percentage, before suffering a leg injury on New Year’s Eve.
After missing the past 15 games, Jeff was assigned to the Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL in early February.
While you can hardly label his rookie season an overwhelming success, Edmonton brass has gone on the record stating that they are happy with the progress Drouin-Deslauriers has made in 2004-05.
A stint in the AA ECHL might be just what Jeff needs to get his game back on track and he should be back in the AHL with the Road Runners before the season ends.
Our sources feel that once he can harness all of his talent, Drouin-Deslauriers will be a force in the NHL. He just makes the cut as the 50th and final selection in the 2005 Fab50.
