Already having made strong strides in his rookie pro year, Mike Green seems to have a world of potential yet to be tapped.
To that end, he is in good hands. Bruce Boudreau is tutoring him in Hershey, and Glen Hanlon is waiting for him in Washington.
Statistics rarely tell the whole story, but you might consider these numbers registered in his final two years of junior with Saskatoon.
Green sent surface-to-net missiles into 14 goals in each of those seasons, exceptional numbers for a blueliner. More striking was his improvement from minus-29 to plus-36.
"He's as great a competitor as you're going to find," said Boudreau. "He's a first year guy, right out of junior, 20 years old. He competes. He does a lot of great things, (and) he's only going to get better. I think he's got a good future."
Even though we see Mike sticking around the AHL another season, he avoids our Fresman Forty because he’s so good that we’d be comfortable projecting a "top-four" future in next year’s FAB50 if he continues on his current pace of improvement.
