With his size, puck sense, and touch around the net, Jeremy Colliton has shown in his first professional campaign that he has the goods to become a top notch big leaguer.
Certainly the Islanders think so, having earlier brought him up for a six-game stint when injuries struck their forward corps.
Colliton possesses a blend of size, puck sense, and touch around the net, all highly desirable qualities.
The numbers reflect that too, as he set up 12 goals and set up 24 others heading into mid-February.
His plus-12 rating topped all other Sound Tigers to that point, another pleasant part of Colliton's overall package.
Colliton made his NHL debut November 23, 2005, a short taste of things to come.
The biggest ingredient to the formula for success for Colliton is time in adjustment working on ratcheting up his skills and speed to the NHL level. He debuts at number 49 in the freshman forties of the 2006 MLN FAB50 Hockey rankings. The New York Islanders’ development system is tough and competitive, but we see him rising in the 2007 rankings, with an eye towards making the full NHL jump by 2008 if his development tracks as it has been going to date.
