Minor League News (MLN) presents the first Open Source directory that tracks the career of athletes who appear in minor league and independent professional sports.
This is an Open Source project separate from our magazine, sponsored by MLN. Open Source means that anyone who has valid information to contribute about a player or a career, from a stats correction to a great photograph to a personal memory or a career highlight, can have their submissions included with a player's career information. You do it yourself by clickng on the EDIT tab of any page.
Of course, we check for accuracy of information, and remove anything that the editors may deem to be inappropriate. If you do not contribute positively, you will be blocked from making further contributions.
We welcome players, both active and retired, to contribute their information, or make suggestions or changes. You can even provide us special information for your biography pages, if you wish.
For too long, the career information on players has been scattered across the internet. Players move freely between minor league and independent sports. Often the affiliated teams lack information on the independent career, and vice-versa. Here we offer a forum for the complete career of every player, active, injured or retired.
To make additions, changes or corrections, edit the page. It's that simple. If you are interested in helping develop this project or becoming a volunteer editor, contact us.
All players will have bio pages. We've just adopted the WikiPedia engine to make your histories easier to edit, and easier for people all over the world to find.
Teams sending stats should send them as Microsoft Excel files. Photos can be in any popular form, although jpg and .gif files are the easiest to send.
We are excited to sponsor this ambitious project to catalog more than 14,000 professional athletes, and look forward to it growing in the weeks to come!
