Jim Mandelaro has been a featured writer at SZ since 2003. He covers the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings for the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, which he has done since 1991.

He hosted a baseball show on WHTK-AM 1280 in Rochester in 1997, and has appeared as a guest on numerous other local sports broadcasts. Mandelaro is the co-author of "Silver Seasons: The Story of the Rochester Red Wings."

Jim was named Sportswriter of the Year by the Rochester Press-Radio Club in 1995 and 2007 and the Monroe County American Legion in 1995. He was inducted into the Frontier Field Walk of Fame in 2007.

A member of the Minor League Sports Writers Association (MLSWA) Mandelaro lives in Fairport, New York, with his wife Kerri, son Matthew, and their cats, Cosette and Marius. He is currently working on a book about the baseball idols of former and current baseball stars.

Dan Hickling is a veteran sports writer, editor, and columnist for SZ, the MAJOR BLOGS of Minor League News, the Manchester Union Leader, Portland Press Herald, Providence Journal, and more than a dozen other newspapers and magazines.

His primary beats are hockey, lacrosse and baseball at the minor league level, although he has covered everything from major league games to high school sports. Hickling is the driving force behind the MLN FAB50 Hockey talent and movement rankings every mid-season.

Highly modest and always shy to toot his own horn, Dan, a member of the Minor League Sports Writers Association, has been writing for MLN Sports since 2001. He drives thousands of miles a year to get to every nook and cranny in the Northeast where there is a professional sports team, great or small.

He lives in Kennebunk, Maine, with his wife and teenage daughter.

Brian Ross has been the publisher and senior editor of SZ since it debuted as "Minor League News" in the late fall of 1999. An award-winning writer, photographer, short filmmaker, screenwriter, and graphic artist,

Creating SZ, the first true internet sports magazine dedicated to the minor and independent leagues of pro sports, Ross has written and photographed nearly a decade of articles, photo essays and opinion columns on players and the business of minor league sports.
